About the role:

Elemental Machines is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead our electronics team in the creation of new IoT sensors and modules.  We are looking for someone who is excited about the challenges that come with the development of high-volume electronics that are used in life changing applications.  The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the entire development process that includes working with product management to understand and  create the product requirements, developing architectures that are scalable and allow for rapid development, and the entire process of moving concepts into volume production.

In this role you work closely with embedded software and firmware developers, applications software developers, product owners and our operations team.

This is a full-time, salaried position.  We prefer the candidate to reside in the Greater Boston area and operate out of our Cambridge, MA office.

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead a team of Electrical Engineers, Electrical Technicians and Mechanical Engineers in the development of IoT devices and gateways
  • Drive the architecture of the devices to create a scalable platform that is both low cost and robust
  • Work closely with the Data Science team and Cloud Software teams to create solutions that are compelling for our customers
  • Work closely with the Operations team to ensure successful transfer of completed products into production
  • Work closely with the Product Management team to create requirements for hardware devices that will meet the user's needs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • 10 years of experience in electronics design
  • At least 3 years of technical leadership
  • A keen understanding of embedded software development on both microcontrollers and ARM microprocessors running embedded Linux
  • Experience with WiFi, Bluetooth, Cellular
  • Experience taking products through compliance and gaining certifications
  • Experience taking products from concept all the way through to production
